Getting sober changes our lives—but putting down alcohol and other mind-altering substances doesn’t mean we stop struggling. Even after working the Steps, we can find ourselves deeply affected by people, circumstances, expectations, disappointments, and the things we simply cannot control.
Inspired by Bill W.’s writing, this workshop explores what it means to deepen our recovery beyond physical sobriety and continue growing spiritually and emotionally. Together, we’ll look at the ways we can still depend on people, places, and things for our sense of security, worth, and peace—and how the principles of recovery can help us find greater emotional balance and freedom.
Through discussion, reflection, and shared experience, we’ll explore emotional sobriety not as a destination we finally reach, but as an ongoing practice: learning to recognize our reactions, loosen our dependence on outcomes, and meet life as it is rather than as we think it should be.
You'll explore: What emotional sobriety means in everyday life; how dependence on people, circumstances, expectations, and outcomes can continue long after we stop drinking; how the principles of the Steps can support emotional and spiritual growth; and practical ways to cultivate greater acceptance, balance, freedom, and peace.
