⛺ Camp Rainbow Roundup 2026: Event Recap

Celebrating Sober Summer Fellowship, Community, & Retro Fun!

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, our community took over the Cheesman Park Pavilion for Camp Rainbow Roundup—our epic 1980s-themed summer field day and major fundraiser for the 2026 Rocky Mountain Roundup (RMRU)! From neon sweatbands and tube socks to continuous cookout eats and high-stakes lawn games, it was an afternoon filled with incredible energy, laughter, and sober connection.

🏆 Tournament & Field Day Highlights

Our 4-person color squads ("bunks") battled it out in a bracket of high-energy throwback games:

🎒 Brokeback Backpack Relay: A high-speed race packing and unpacking bizarre camp gear without dropping a single piece.

🍳 Dolly Parton Egg Relay: Sprinting with balanced spoon eggs while styled in full Dolly wigs, boobs and accessories.

💦 Queen Splash Sponge Toss: A soaked test of distance and catching precision.

🏆 The Great Gay Tug-Off: An intense, double-elimination Tug-of-War finale to crown our official 2026 Camp Champions!

🍔 Cookout & Camp Vibe

While tournament teams fought for the championship, spectators relaxed in the shade, enjoyed background music, and caught the action from the lawn dining zones. The camp grill crew served continuous hot meals—burgers, hot dogs, and veggie options with all the sides, cold sodas, and sweet treats right up through the closing award ceremony.

Camp Rainbow Roundup was built on accessibility and teamwork:

• Fully Inclusive: Through confidential camp scholarships, we ensured every community member could participate regardless of financial need.

• Powered by Volunteers: A massive thank-you to our referee crew, grill assistants, check-in volunteers, and setup/teardown teams who kept the day running smoothly.

💰 The Impact: Raised $808 for the 2026 RMRU conference.

🧩 Highlights: An 80s-themed, story-driven puzzle quest across downtown Denver. Teams tackled interactive photo challenges at various stops, and the top 3 fastest teams won gift cards from local Denver businesses!
