Welcome to the official registration page for Camp Rainbow Roundup—the most anticipated summer field day of the year! We are throwing it back to the golden era of classic 1980s summer camps. Dust off your highest tube socks, pack your favorite neon sweatbands, and get ready for an afternoon packed with community spirit, a traditional camp cookout, and our epic field day tournament!

This is a queer, sober, and welcoming space for all.

This special mid-summer event is proudly hosted as a major fundraiser for the Rocky Mountain Roundup (RMRU). Whether you are coming to rule the tournament fields, cheer your squad from the sidelines, or simply enjoy a perfect afternoon in the park with incredible people, we can't wait to welcome you to the bunkhouse!

Camp Logistics

Date: Saturday, July 18, 2026

Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Campgrounds: Cheesman Park Pavilion, Denver, CO

Tuition (Admission): $20.00 Early Bird | $25.00 Week-of

Bunkhouse Scholarships: Confidential full camp scholarships are available for any camper who needs one. Please see our Community Support section below to request a spot completely hassle-free.

The Noon Check-In Process

When you arrive at Cheesman Park—feel free to get there a little early to settle in—head straight for the main tables at the Pavilion at 12:00 PM. Our friendly volunteer crew will check you in by your name, verify your registration, and confirm that your digital liability waiver has been submitted. Once that's all set, they will hand out your official camp gear depending on how you choose to spend your afternoon: :

For Active Players: You will be assigned to one of our four official tournament color teams and handed an exclusive colored bandanna. This acts as your mandatory field pass and tournament uniform! Tie it on to show your team pride.
For Spectators & Food-Only Attendees: If you paid your tuition to enjoy the nostalgia, soak up the park vibes, and hit the cookout lines without breaking a sweat, you will receive a special spectator wristband. This lets our grill crew know you're on the official roster for food while giving you a front-row seat to the action.

We are working on having other camp schwag that would be available at the check-in table. More to come on that!

Dogs

Dogs must be on a leash at all times in Cheesman Park. Because Cheesman Park does not have a designated, fenced-in off-leash area, letting your dog run free anywhere in the park is illegal and strictly enforced.

Popup Tents

You can bring 10x10 (no bigger) pop-up tents to Cheesman Park to shade from the sun. However, you cannot drive stakes deeper than 6 inches into the grass because of underground irrigation lines. Instead, you must use weight bags, sandbags, or water weights to secure your tent

Seating & Tables

You are welcome to bring camp-style chairs, lawn chairs, tables and/or picnic blankets for your own use. RMRU will only be providing tables at our welcome stand and for preparing and serving food. While Cheesman Park has permanent wooden picnic tables dotted around the playground and lawns, they are sparse and highly competitive.

Food & Beverage

12:30 PM – 1:00 PM | Kitchen is open and serving

The kitchen is open and serving! Our crew will be grilling up burgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers with all the sides and beverages so folks can fuel up before the tournament begins. Ice-cold water stations, sodas, and light snacks will also be fully available at the pavilion all afternoon.

1:00 PM – 3:30 PM | Continuous Tournament Buffet

The cookout remains fully open throughout the afternoon. Food will be served continuously so players can grab a bite between their scheduled matches, and spectators can eat at their leisure in the lawn dining zones.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM | Last Call & Sweet Treats

As the final tournament rounds wrap up, the grill crew will do a "Last Call" for hot food.
Dessert and remaining refreshments will remain open through the closing awards ceremony, wrapping up just before the Teardown Crew begins packing up at 3:35PM.

Personal Coolers Welcome (Sober Event Policy): Attendees are more than welcome to bring their own personal coolers with outside food, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks! Please note that Camp Rainbow Roundup is a strictly alcohol-free and substance-free event to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all campers. Additionally, to comply with Denver Park rules, please ensure there are strictly NO glass containers or bottles of any kind brought onto the lawns or into the pavilion.

🎒 Brokeback Backpack Relay

A wildly chaotic, high-speed timed race where each person on your squad must sprint a lap and furiously pack/unpack a camp bag stuffed with bizarre gear—keep a tight grip on that cargo, because dropping a single item earns your squad latrine duty back at the bunkhouse!

🍳 Dolly Parton Egg Relay

Channel your inner country icon in this high-energy race where each teammate must throw on their best Dolly wig and accessories before sprinting with an egg balanced on a kitchen spoon—keep your composure and your balance, because dropping your cargo or your look will cost your team precious seconds on the clock!

💦 Queen Splash Sponge Toss

A soaked, high-stakes game of test-your-distance catch where pairs from your squad must sink or swim—take a step back with every successful underhand grab, but prepare to get absolutely drenched!

🏆 The Grand Finale: The Great Gay Tug Off

The tournament's top-performing squads will advance to the ultimate championship bracket—a high-stakes, double-elimination Tug-Of-War to crown the official camp champions! You'll have to be pulled down twice to be sent packing, so dig those heels in!

🕒 🧺 Noon Squad Assignments (Teams of 4)

Campers do not need to bring a pre-made team! All tournament games are built for squads of exactly 4 players. To foster community, meeting new friends, and natural mingling, all players will be assigned to their official 4-person tournament color squad (their "bunk") at the Noon Check-In desk by our registration volunteers.

👟 🚫 Footwear is Mandatory for Players

For safety on the grass during active movements and the heavy pulling of the Tug-Off, sneakers or athletic closed-toe shoes are strictly required to play on the field. Sandals, slides, flip-flops, or bare feet are totally fine for the spectator and dining zones, but won't be allowed past the tournament sidelines.

🦩 🎽 Pushing the 1980s Theme (HARD)

We are pushing the retro camp theme HARD! We want the Cheesman lawns looking like a technicolor time capsule. Campers are enthusiastically encouraged to dig deep into their closets for high tube socks, neon sweatbands, dolphin shorts, mesh trucker caps, vintage cut-offs, and graphic tees. Go big, go bright, and dress to impress your Camp Counselors!

☀️ 🎒 The Essentials Checklist

If you like, pack a towel (handy for drying off after The Queen Splash), a personal water bottle, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen. A change of dry clothes is completely optional—with the high heat and dryness of a Colorado afternoon, you might just bake dry in the sun while grabbing some grub!

Prefer to Help Out Instead of Play?

Not a fan of field games but still want to join the fun? We would love to have you on the Camp Staff! Whether you want to be an objective referee, a grill master assistant, or help run the check-in table, your hands are welcome.

How to join the crew: Please complete your official registration first (either by purchasing a ticket or requesting a confidential scholarship above) so we can lock in your food package and headcount. Once your registration is complete, see our Volunteer section below to request a spot to let us know how you'd like to help.

⚠️ Important Camp Safety Rules & Regulations

If you are purchasing tickets for friends, family, or partners, you are responsible for making sure everyone in your party reads, understands, and respects these guidelines before stepping onto the campgrounds!

A Sober & Respectful Campground: This is a fully sober event. We absolutely welcome you to bring along your non-sober friends, family, and loved ones to join in the fun, provided they purchase an admission ticket to support the fundraiser! We kindly ask all guests to respect our community space: please do not bring any alcohol, cannabis (including vape pens and edibles), or any other drugs onto the campgrounds. Let's keep the energy clean, and supportive for everyone!
Leashed Camp Companions: We love our camp dogs, and there will likely be a lot of them on the grounds! If you choose to bring a furry friend to cheer from the sidelines, your dog is entirely your responsibility and must be kept on a leash at all times to ensure the safety of both the pups and our field day competitors.
Wagon Caravan Only: There is absolutely no vehicle parking or access directly at the pavilion. Campers are highly encouraged to bring a utility pull-cart or wagon to transport camp chairs, picnic blankets, and personal gear from the park perimeter.
Lawn Dining Only: Strict park regulations prohibit any eating or dining on the stone floor of the Pavilion itself. All grilling, camp meals, and cheering sections will take place on the surrounding lawns and pavilion steps.
Camp Photo, Media, & Privacy Policy

We want to capture all the great throwback moments of Camp Rainbow Roundup, but we also want everyone to feel comfortable. Here is how media will be handled on the field:

Official Volunteer Photographer: If we secure a designated volunteer photographer for the day, they will operate under a strict active consent policy. They will verbally ask for your green light before taking or posting close-up portraits or small group shots. If you prefer not to be snapped, just let them know!
Crowd & Action Shots: Wide-angle crowd shots of the Pavilion, distant action shots of the tournament games, and full-squad huddles are generally cleared for use to showcase the event's community spirit.
The Reality of Public Parks: Because this is a fun community field day in a bustling public space, we cannot monitor or control personal smartphones or individual social media posts. We kindly ask all our campers to be mindful, respectful, and ask their peers for permission before tagging or posting photos of others online.

🚨 EVERYONE on-site must register—including all volunteers and board members. We use these exact numbers for headcount and meal planning.

🛑 IMPORTANT: No Waiver = No Field Access! Your registration is NOT complete until you finish the Liability Waiver in Step 4. Without it, you cannot step onto the field to play. If you are registering a group, please remind your squad members that everyone must complete their own Step 4 waiver!
